I read the article about why recycling can help in the enviornment that we live in. In some parts of the world people have to wait two weeks to get there garbage picked up. People in the neighborhoods were complaining of smelling all types of garbage. Especially if it was hot outside because the smells would linger. For a solution of that, Seattle opened a mammoth new transfer station in an industrial area south of downtown with large floors. They were able to sort waste/garbage from the recycle. This actually worked, they just wanted people to take the time to seperate the garbage from the recycle.

The article "The Greenhouse effect Is For Real" is about carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere has been increasing and eventually it would start to heat up. The Climatologists recommend some things that would help postpone the greenhouse effect because once the warming begins, it will be hard to make things better.

The article "As Syrians Fight, Sectarian Strife Infects Mideast" by Tim Arango, Anne Barnard and Duraid Adnan is about the the civil war that is happening now in Syria between the Shiites and Sunnis. The government argues that the civil war is to overthrow the government dominated by Assad Alawite while others argue that the fight is inspired by the religious differences between the two sects. The civil war has caused thousands of death and has disrupted the peace in Syria.

    Summary:
In the article "Children, Media and Sex: A Big Book of Blank Pages" by Jane E. Brody, talks about how the media has a huge impact on the sexual behaviors of children. Children spend lots of time watching TV, on the internet and listening to music yet what they are watching and listening to is explicit content. Teenagers no longer practice abstinence, instead it seems that they all mimic what they saw on TV.

The article "A Recycling Ideal So Close, Cities Can Smell It", it's about that people in Portland, Oregon want to have a good environmental for their home. People complained about more garbage that been left for two weeks in the driveway that cause smell awful. But the challenge would be that they want to less and focus more on recycling to make the home area better than in the past.

The article I just read talks about the influence the media has on teenagers. The things they are watching is giving them the wrong ideas, teenagers are watching and get more excess to sexual websites or movies. Girls are getting pregnant more then before because the media gives them the idea that it's alright to have unprotected sex. Shows how strong the media is.

In this article written by unknown author explains about the greenhouse effect. (this article was written in 1989). People thought that the greenhouse effect is a false alarm. But unfortunally the greenhouse effect is true. Greenhouse effect is a process of gases absorbing in the ozone layer. It is a very serious debate to whether greenhouse effect is true or not.

The article "A Recycling Ideal So Close, Cities Can Smell It" by William Yardley talks about late pick up of garbage and the stink involved in the communities and making it hard for people to live in that type of an environment. Places like Portland, garbage is picked up only twice a week, complaints are lodged, many recycling solutions are into consideration but the issue looks like that people living in that area wouldn't give it a serious thought also not come forward for a cleaner living, this would be the biggest dare to the community and the officials.

The article I read is from The NY Times and it's called "Children, Media and Sex: A Big Book of Blank Pages" by Jane E. Brody. This article is about how the media affects young children and teens. There has not been enough studies on the effects of sexual content on children and teens. There are negative effects of sexual content in media such as pre-marital sex, spread of disease, teen pregnancy, and premature sexual behavior in young teens.

They are being exposed to sexual references and images on tv, the internet, movies and music, which causes them to experiment. To summarize what this article is talking about as this article also pertains to my topic on the greenhouse effect, this is just re-confirming that the greenhouse effect is very real and that actions such as burning down forests in Brazil and using machinery that produces smoke and the chemical such as chlorofluorocarbons is resulting in global warming of our atmosphere.Earth's natural insulators such as trees and oceans are being taken away because every since the industrial revolution, we are relying on machinery that although does help make our lives easier, it slowly kills off our planet. This article is just clarifying that although people say the greenhouse is a myth, it is not.

In this article, the author is questioning the government's knowledge of the difference between Sunnis and Shiites. Both sides have different intentions but, in order for the government to be effectively in protecting the people from terrorist attacks, they have to know each groups intentions, ideas, point of views, etc. In 2005, one of the top FBI officials stated that it was not important to know anything about certain terrorists in order to be effective at stopping them. Even to this day, although FBI officials agreed that knowing you target is important, many of them still don't know the difference. At the end of the day, if the government does not know the supposed enemy and who they are suppose to protect people from, people will always be in fear of a terrorist attack and people who look like supposed terrorists.
