Changes to the Syllabi & Formal Outline Assignment

English 103 classes,

I've made some changes to the syllabus and following are the links to the google docs so that you can save it to your computers.

I apologize for not posting the "Outlines" assignment sooner but as I mentioned in class and told some of you individually that I am looking precisely for what your text book is advising in chapter 6. We will go over the three types of outlines you can do in class this week.

Also, I still do not have some people's research proposals, annotated bibliographies, and quotation paragraphs. Please keep in mind that if you do not have a grade for any of these assignments then you will not be able to receive the percentage for that assignment which will then effect your final grade!

In addition, I have been reading your blogs and some of you are doing really well on them! Unfortunately, others are not writing sufficiently or are not writing regularly and please keep in mind that the blogs are 10% of your grade and I will check for 10 entries in total the last week of classes!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekends and see you all in class!

Quotation Paragraph Assignment-Deadline Extended!

English 103 Classes,

We have another deadline extension yet again for our assignment. I hope this is the last one! Because many people have requested for deadline extensions, I've decided to give one to everybody! The quotation paragraph assignment that you can view by clicking here is going to be due on Friday, October 25 by 5 pm for BOTH sections of this class! Please review the assignment carefully and be sure to check back for the rubric!

Make sure, just like other assignments in this class, you both EMAIL the google doc link (or attach it to an email) to me (salamatm66@gmail.com) AND post it on your individual blog and NOT the course blog!!!

If you have any questions about anything, please email me or come see me at my office on Thursday during my office hours.

Also, if you have not sent your research proposal revisions yet (i.e. if you haven't received a grade for your proposal yet) PLEASE send it to me asap! I must approve your topics before you go ahead to write the outlines next week!

Best,
Ginger

Online Assignment

Dear Eng 103 classe sections 0887 and 0888,

I hope you have all had a good holiday thus far!

As I have mentioned in the syllabus and in class last week, we do not have class today (Wednesday October 16) and tomorrow (Thursday October 17) physically. Instead, you all have an online assignment. Below, you will see several links. Each link is a NY times article. Your assignment is to choose ONE article from this list and write a SHORT 1-3 sentence summary on it. Then, post a comment to THIS entry and write the following:
Name:
Class Section:
Article you have chosen: (the link)
Summary:

You have until Thursday evening at 5 pm to post your comment in order to receive credit. Once I see your comment, I will mark you as present for the day.

Also, please keep in mind that I have pushed back the deadline for your Annotated Bibliography! It is now due next WEEK October 21st and 22nd according to class section. The reason is to give you more time to work on the assignment and also to send me drafts for feedback! Email me if you have any questions about anything!

See you all next week!

-Ginger

Library Orientation Notes

For those of you who missed the library orientation on Monday October 7th, I have taken some notes that may be helpful for you. The library orientation on Tuesday October 8th covered some of the material mentioned in the notes as well. However, I would suggest you guys checking out the notes just in case. Also, please keep in mind that you do have the option to meet with a library to consult you about your researching process. You can even email them and expect a response within a day or two! And of course, you can always just walk in the library and get information from the reference desk. I hope you found some information useful in the orientation anyway!

Best,
Ginger

How to Post a Link on Your Blog

Instructions on how to post a link on your blogs:

     1. Go to your google drive (search “Google Drive” on a search engine and log in to your google account, same as your gmail/blogger).

           2. Upload the MS Word Document you wish to post on your blog by clicking the red up arrow button next to “create”.

     3. Choose “Files…”

     4. Browse & open your doc.

     5. After it has uploaded, click on “Share”.

     6. Where it says: “Who has access…”, click on “Change” next to “Private”

     7. Change from “Private” to Anyone with the “link” & Save

     8. Now Copy/Paste that link, send it to my email (salamatm66@gmail.com) then go on blogger.com

     9. On your blogger page, click on “new post” as you would normally do to post a new blog entry. This can be one of your blog entries or just have your proposal link to it. So write down whatever name you want to give your proposal doc. It can be something as simple as “My Research Proposal”. Highlight the name so in this case, highlight “My Research Proposal” then click on “Link” on the toolbar of your post to hyperlink it. In the space provided, paste the link you copied from google drive & click “ok”.

       10. Now you may post the blog entry.

Also, I have posted the rubric that I will be using for grading your proposals in the previous blog entry.
